Are you looking for MOT for your vehicle?

The United Kingdom law mandates every vehicle owner to take their car for an MOT test every year to assess the environmental friendliness and roadworthiness of a vehicle. Not abiding by this law makes you susceptible to hefty fines and can even jeopardise your on-road safety.

Hence, if your vehicle’s annual assessment is due, come down to Blue Boys Garage and opt for our MOT Tunbridge Wells.

We are among the few DVSA-approved garages in our area offering MOT assessments as per the legal guidelines. We have a team of certified testers who check your vehicle using the top diagnostic tools in the market. Following this, they issue the relevant MOT certificate based on the results of the inspection.

What Are The Classes Of Vehicles Under An MOT?

The classes of vehicles under an MOT test are as follows:

1. Class 1 and Class 2: Motorbikes

2. Class 4: Passenger cars, taxis, minibuses and ambulances with twelve or lesser seats

3. Class 5: Motor caravans, dual-purpose vehicle and hire cars with thirteen seats or more

4. Class 7: Goods vehicles with a gross total weight of more than 3000 kg and up to 3500 kg

What Are The Checks We Perform Under An MOT Tunbridge Wells?

While conducting an MOT test, we check the following components:

  • Vehicle body and overall structure
  • Tyres and wheels
  • Braking system
  • Suspension and steering
  • Exhaust system
  • Seatbelts and seats
  • Wipers and windscreen
  • Doors, etc.

We will also check the emission levels in your vehicle to make sure that it follows the permitted levels.

Once all tests are done and no faults were found, we will issue a VT20 certificate.

Please note: Even if minor faults were found, the vehicle owner will receive a pass certificate. The faults will be listed on a so-called advisory note and should be taken care of in due course.

These two faults immediately result in an MOY failure:

  • Major
  • Dangerous

VT30: In case we detect any major or dangerous discrepancies in your vehicle, you will get this certificate. Such issues can hamper your overall driving safety. If the vehicle fails its MOT, the driver is no longer allowed to drive or park the vehicle on public roads.

All faults showing on the VY30 must be rectified first and a partial re-test must be carried out afterwards.
